Naat is the name given to the poetry that has been written in praise of RasoolAllah
. Many Blessed Companions (Sahaabah) were skilled in the art of writing poetry in praise of RasoolAllah:SAW:. The Holy Prophet asked his Sahaabah if anyone of them were prepared to do Jihad with the tongue, against the disbelievers and Hazrat Hassaan bin Thaabit (Radiallahu Ta’ala Anh) volunteered for this. He would then stand and recite Naats whilst RasoolAllah:SAW: and other Sahaabah would listen.
